Kolleen Howard

(From Ozark Funeral Home)

Kolleen Louise Howard was a Devoted Wife, a loving daughter, a special sister, a fun Auntie, a well cherished friend, but we called her Momma!!! She had a strong faith pressed down & shaken together and touched by the hand of God!

Kolleen graduated from Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg, Missouri, where she earned a Bachelor Degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology; she worked for several years with Missouri Family Services in the Children’s Division. She enjoyed being a Sunday School teacher, a Youth leader, and a Preacher’s Wife.

She stood by our Daddy’s side for almost 50 years where there was always love and laughter and a few tears. Robert proposed to Kolleen on the Beach- oh my, did she love the Ocean, walking on the sand and holding Daddy’s hand.

They were married on July 8, 1972. She had 4 children, son-in-law, Sean; daughter-in-law, Heather; 6 grandchildren, and one great granddaughter that she loved beyond measure. She enjoyed reading Amish Christian Books, Crocheting, and Swimming at the YMCA. There was never a stranger to her and they were always welcome to eat at our table!!! She was born in Upstate New York where she often visited Watkins Glen and drove by the old farmhouse, married in California in our grandparents backyard, and settled down with Pastor Bob and her children James, Missie, Robert, and Vicki in Missouri.

I remember the first time my Brother and I saw green grass- oh the soft green grass! She loved Andrew and seeing his football games, Robbie and all his upcoming promotions, Nathan and his Beautiful Daughter, Sapphyra and what a great Dad he is. She wanted to see Ryan get married and was so Blessed to meet Isabell and Rhett who she literally made chocolate chip cookies for at 10 pm!

She was so proud of Raeana who is turning into a beautiful young lady inside and out. To them she was “Granny” and will forever have a place in their hearts. She loved to craft and make homemade wreaths out of pine cones, feathers, bird nests and many other treasures from the Woods at the Cabin. The Cabin was one of her favorite places to be making s’mores and grilling hot dogs around the campfire. She loved Cardinals, they were her favorite. Every time we are lucky enough to see one now, we can think of her and how high she flew home to be with Jesus. She was so looking forward to traveling and coming back to Alaska in the summertime. Daddy always said she had a window to our Soul we love you Momma!

To us it doesn’t seem fair she was only 71 and had so much more love to give but he needed his Angel and called her home on Saturday night 02-08-2020. We are going to miss playing marbles, farkle and dominoes. Seeing her garden in full bloom and enjoying her homemade salsa and jelly. Rest In Peace now Momma. Go rest high on that mountain, go to Heaven a shouting, love for the father and the Son.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the Jasper United Methodist Church, 122 N. 1st Street in Jasper, Missouri. Pastor Clint Lambeth and Reverend Alice Fowler will officiate. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until service time at the church.
