George Hooper, age 91 of Carthage, passed away February 17, 2020 at Carthage Health and Rehab following a long life.
George was born on December 17, 1928 in Anderson, Mo., to William and Ola Mae (Huston) Hooper.
George was united in marriage to Shirley (Bemis) Pickering on February 14, 1976 in Carthage, Mo. George served his country in the army. He worked as a machinist at H.E. Williams for over 30 years.
George was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Margaret (Reynolds) Hooper, one son, Rodney Hooper, one daughter, Valerie Bennett, one infant sister, five brothers, 3 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
George is survived by his wife, four sons, Mike Pickering and wife Becky of Carthage, Mo., Doug Pickering and wife Charlotte of Sarcoxie, Mo., Randy Pickering and wife Leisha of Keene, Tx., and Kevin Hooper and wife Terri of Carthage, Mo., two daughters, Vicky (Pickering) Denholm and husband Barney of Sarcoxie Mo., and Pamela (Hooper) Dodson of Joplin, Mo., 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and two sisters.
Memorial graveside service will be held Thursday February 27, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery, Jasper, Mo.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory, Joplin, Mo.
