Karen Mae Talbott, age 61, of Carthage, Mo., was called to her Heavenly Home on February 22, 2020, surrounded by friends and family.
Karen was a life-long resident of Southwest Mo. Born in Stella, Mo., on May 15, 1958 to Ralph and Edna Ward (nee Hendrix), she spent her childhood working her family’s farm in Diamond. Karen was a graduate of Diamond High School. Upon completion, she attended Crowder College in Neosho.
On July 1, 1977 Karen married her best friend, and lifetime neighbor, Marvin Gene Talbott. Gene and Karen moved to Carthage, Mo., where they began life together and were blessed with two sons, Brian Eugene Talbott and Andrew Ryan Talbott. Karen spent much of her life operating a daycare for many of the town’s wonderful children, many of whom still stop in to say hello whenever possible.
After retirement, Karen spent her time loving her four grandchildren, caring for her mother, getting her nails done weekly, camping with her family, and building a tight-knit community of friends via the internet.
Karen was preceded in death by her father Ralph Ward, brother Carl Ward, and sister Kathleen Ward, and is Survived by her mother, Edna, Aunt Leona, Husband Gene, Son Brian (Erin) Talbott, Andy (Chelsea) Talbott, and four grandchildren, Kenny, Lucas, Matthew, and Paige.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday February 27, 2020 at Park Cemetery in Carthage, Mo. Visitation will be held from 6-7 pm Wednesday February 26, 2020 at Mason-Woodard Mortuary in Joplin, Mo.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory in Joplin, Mo.
