Sonny Lamp

Earl Wesley “Sonny” Lamp, 82, of Verona, MO, passed away on Thursday morning, February 27, 2020, at his home.

Sonny was born on July 9, 1937 in Verona, MO son of the late Earl Wesley, Sr. and Catherine (Fischer) Lamp.

Sonny was a graduate of Verona High School class of 1955. He was a farmer, raising livestock most of his life. Baseball was his favorite sport, where he played short stop for the American Legion team for many years. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

On October 12, 1957, Ann Behymer and Earl W. “Sonny” Lamp were united in marriage at the Ebenezer Baptist Church. She preceded him in death. He married Patsy Coolidge on September 23, 1994 at their home in Verona. She also preceded him in death.








Sonny is also survived by his son, David Lamp of Verona, MO; three daughters,

Catherine Lamp, Liz Kranker and husband Paul and Laura Lamp of Joplin, MO; one step-daughter, Sandy Wilson and husband Roger, of Fritch, TX; two grandchildren, Nathan Lamp and wife Eva and Paul Kranker; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Lamp and wife Lisa of Verona, MO; two sisters, Helen Wormington of Purdy, MO and Jo Hayward and husband Jim of Verona, MO; and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charlie Lamp; one sister, Oleta Mae Lamp and his African gray parrot, Ted.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice Compassus for all their personal care and support to Sonny and his family. The family would also like to thank Rebekah Aldridge for the care she gave during Sonny’s illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Buchanan Funeral Home. Brother Steve Spillman will be officiating. Interment will be at Calton Cemetery, east of Monett. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m. Monday at Buchanan Funeral Home. Memorial contributions to Hospice Compassus of Monett.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
