Denny Brown

Denny R. Brown, 67, of Monett, MO, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, MO.

Denny was born on August 3, 1952 in Wheaton, MO, son of the late Ira and Ruth (Nelson) Brown. Growing up in southern Barry County, Denny went to school at Exeter and then furthered his education at Crowder College.


Denny served his country honorably in the United States Air Force until November 1, 1973. He then served in the Army Reserve and later retired from the National Guard. For many years, Denny worked at Wells Aluminum as Paint Coordinator. He was a member of the American Legion Post #91 and a member of the Monett Church of Christ. Denny enjoyed hunting, lovingly harassing his family and friends and was a handyman, always enjoying fixing something that was broken.

On April 25, 1980 in Miami, OK, Denny married Carol Ann Harrell. They have blessed with almost forty years together.








Denny is survived by his wife, Carol, of the home; one son, Joseph Michael Rich, Jr. and wife Teresa, of Rocky Comfort, MO; three daughters, Anita Grant and husband Ivan, of Monett, Danielle Denmark and husband Brian, of Neosho, MO and Nicole Miller and husband Robert, of Valparaiso, IN; three brothers, Larry Brown and wife Sue, of Fairview, MO, Roger Brown and wife Patty, of Exeter, MO and Joe Brown and wife Jina, of Cassville, MO; two sisters, Evelyn Haddock and husband Rayburn, of Exeter, MO and Kim Navarro, of Arkansas; his mother-in-law, Mabel Harrell, of Monett; thirteen grandchildren, Felisha Willis and husband Jimi, Trevor Pfau, Mariah Crow, Sierra Crow, Lindsey Grant, Dalton Grant, Chloe Rich, Jasmine Miller, Amelia Miller, Joseph Rich III, Robert Miller III, John Denmark and Stella Denmark; three great-grandchildren, Brodie Vice, Lillie Willis and Morgan Henshaw; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold Brown, Sr. and Frankie Brown; and one sister, Sandy Bierschwal.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett. Mark Hardwick will be officiating. Interment and military honors will be at Concord Cemetery, west of Exeter, MO.

Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Fair Haven Children’s Home or St. Jude Children’s Hospital in care of the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
