Marie Wilson

Dora "Marie" Wilson passed away at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Lockwood, MO February 14, 2020 at the age of 103.

Marie was born August 4, 1916 to Steven Vernon and Cora Ely on a farm near Elk City, OK. She attended Merritt School graduating in 1934. 

On August 3, 1935 she married Virgil Lee Wilson in the preacher's home in Beckham County, OK. While in Oklahoma she was a homemaker and cafeteria cook at Merritt School. After moving to Cave Springs, AR in 1952, she worked at a poultry plant near Bentonville, AR.

In 1960 she moved to Springdale, AR and was a homemaker in a new home built by her husband. December of 1996 she moved to Jasper, MO to be closer to her daughter.

Marie was a member of Prairie View Baptist Church in Oklahoma and attended Jasper Baptist Church until she was 100 years old.








Surviving are her daughter, Rosa Cunningham, of Jasper, MO ; 3 grandchildren, Vicky Ulmer, husband Jim, of Jasper, MO, Ronnie Cunningham, wife Lisa, of Lamar, MO, Paula Covey, husband Heath, of Carthage, MO; 7 great grandchildren, Kristina Forst, husband David, of Lamar, MO, Julee Watts, husband Brad, of Joplin, MO, Samantha Pennell of Lamar, MO, Drew Cunningham, wife Sydney, of Ozark, MO, Rylee Cunningham of Pittsburg, KS, Cody Covey, wife Kelsey, of Carthage, MO, Courtney Tidball, husband Tyler, of Jasper, MO; 11 great- great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, sister, Edna "Jane" Haden, brother, Steven Vernon Ely, Jr. and son-in-law, Jerrol Cunningham.

Visitation is scheduled for 12:30pm to 2:00pm, Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper, MO. Graveside service to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Mitchell Cemetery, east of Jasper MO.

Memorial donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or Mitchell Cemetery through Weng Funeral Chapel.
