Richard Earl “Dick” Gulliford, 92, of Monett, MO, passed from this life suddenly on Wednesday evening, February 19, 2020.
Dick was born on November 26, 1927 in Moundville, MO, son of the late Edward Earl Gulliford and Alta Zalma (Janes) Gulliford. Following his graduation from Bronaugh High School, Dick continued his education at Springfield Business College. Dick served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict, being stationed in Germany. He was discharged with decorations on October 30, 1953. He worked for Jumping Jack’s in Monett, as Personnel Manager, retiring at the age of 63. Dick was a charter member of the Countryside Christian Church.
On June 1, 1948 in Springfield, MO, Dick married Norma Jean Thomas. To this union, two children were born.
Dick is survived by his son, Mark Gulliford and wife Donna, of Monett; his daughter, Ann Stockton and husband Bruce, of Joplin; five grandchildren, Blake Gulliford, Jordan Germano and husband John, Taylor Gulliford, Katy Manning and husband Deagan and Chad Stockton; three great-grandchildren, Elliot Gulliford, Luca Germano and Maris Manning. Additionally, he is survived by a dear friend and companion, Nelda Fritz, of Monett.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean; two brothers, VH Gulliford and Larry Gulliford; as well as one sister, Thelma Armsworthy.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, 5234 W State Hwy EE, Springfield, MO. Todd Korasick, Minister, will be officiating.
Visitation will be Monday, February 24, from 6-7:00 p.m. at Buchanan Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
