Peggy Loraine Esmond, age 92, Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Spring River Christian Village.
Peggy was born August 30, 1927 in Joplin, daughter of the late Andrew Alan Reaves and Sarah "Allie" England Reaves. She graduated from Lincoln High School, and worked for Newman's Department Store as an elevator operator. She was a longtime member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church of Joplin.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Edwin H. "Bud" Esmond, who passed away on March 4, 2001. She was also preceded by her brothers, Marvin Reaves, Maurice "Red" Reaves; sisters, Mildred Ussery, Genevieve Lacy, and Mary Jo Reaves; and a nephew, Maurice A. "Junie" Reaves, Sr.
Survivors include her daughter, Daryl Ann Esmond-Anderson and husband Deon of Joplin; grandchildren, Troy Fowler and wife Shawn of Joplin, Tristan Fowler of Columbia, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Matèa Fowler, Nina Fowler, Donovyn Fowler, and TàLynn Phillips all of Joplin; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.
Funeral service will be Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Unity Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Rufus Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in Parkway Cemetery.
A repass will be held at Unity Missionary Baptist Church following the committal service.
