Mrs. Wanda May Kilgore, 89, of Noel, Missouri, departed this life on Sunday afternoon, February 9, 2020, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri, after a recent decline in health.
Wanda entered this life on April 25, 1930, in Stanley, New Mexico, daughter of the late Stanley Hume and Okla May (Cavasos) Elliott. She was raised and attended school in Stanley.
On February 15, 1964, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Kilgore. Later they were sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple, and together they have shared the last fifty-five years. She resided in Japan and later enjoyed living in Panama while Bill was serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. She often spoke of enjoying the jungles and the San Blas Indian tribe.
Upon returning home, Wanda enrolled at MSSC in Joplin, earning her Bachelors Degree in Education. She retired from Noel Elementary School after several years of service teaching Kindergarten, First and Second graders. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, puzzles, gardening and was a talented artist. Wanda was a beloved member of the Anderson Ward of the Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Lloyd Kilgore; and two siblings, Sharon Townsend and Stanley Hume “Slim” Elliott, Jr.
Wanda is survived by her husband, Bill Kilgore of the home; two children, Sharon “Shari” Alexander of Noel and John Kilgore and wife, Kelli, of Decatur, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Butler Creek Cemetery in Sulphur Springs, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
