Verna Marie Arehart, age 90, Joplin, passed away at 3:50 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2020 at Communities of Wildwood Ranch.
Verna was born December 15, 1929 in Neosho, Missouri to the late James Franklin Brizendine and Beulah Corbin Brizendine and had lived in the Joplin area most of her life.
A homemaker, Verna had worked at the former Oak Hill Hospital as a dietician for many years. She also helped to care for individuals in their homes. Verna was of the Baptist faith and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Verna is survived by her children, Sharon Turner, Roger Arehart and wife, Linda, Carl Arehart, Cecil Arehart, Nancy Borchardt, Noveta McPherson and husband, Brian, Fred Arehart, Kenneth Arehart; three brothers, Jerry Brizendine, Beulah Stanbery, Victoria Martin; numerous grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her parents, Verna was preceded in death by three brothers; four sisters; a grandson and a great grandson.
Graveside services are planned for Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Osborne Memorial Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
