William Wetherell

William Walton Wetherell, age 60, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 following a long illness at Freeman West Hospital.

William was born August 15, 1959 in Joplin, to the late Audley "Paul" Wetherell and Elizabeth "Betty" King Wetherell. He grew up in Joplin where he graduated from Memorial High School in 1977 where he was on the basketball team. He worked for 15 years at F.A.G. Bearings in Joplin before being forced to retire due to his health. Before that he worked at General Mills for 13 yrs.

He loved spending time with family and friends, and watching sports. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan.








In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Linda (Walsh) Wetherell; son-in-law, Joshua Griffith; brother-in-law, Rodney Plumb.

Survivors include his son, Bill (Joanna) Wetherell; daughters, Lacey (Clifford) Wetherell-Adams, and Becky (Nick) Wild all of Joplin; first wife and mother to his children, Sally (Kennedy) Wetherell; grandchildren Micheal, Kira, Kaitlen, Amanda, Kaitlynn, Derrick, Chloe, Kylie, Anthony, Peyton, and Zach; sisters Lynn Plumb and Edye Stalder both of Joplin; nieces Annie, Chrissy, and nephew Cody.

A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2020 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary.

Private family committal of his ashes will be at a later date in Osborne Memorial Cemetery.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Mid-West Transplant Network.
