Lonnie Garner

Lonnie James Garner, Jr. of Peoria, OK passed from this life Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO. He was 71.

Lonnie was born September 1, 1948 in Picher, OK to Lonnie and Connie (Sprague) Garner, Sr. He had lived most of his life in Picher before moving to the Peoria area. He was a 1967 graduate of Picher-Cardin High School. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam.

Lonnie was a postman for the U.S. Postal Service in Picher and Miami for many years. He had also served on the Picher Volunteer Fire Department.








He was preceded in death by his parents and by 1 sister, Nita Vanatta.

Lonnie married Alice Williams on October 3, 1970. She survives of the home. Lonnie is also survived by 3 sons, John Garner of Picher, OK, James Garner of Quapaw, OK and Bear Garner of Commerce, OK, 4 sisters, Gloria Workman-Garner of Quapaw, OK, Evona Garner of Tulsa, OK, Becky Brandon of Quapaw, OK and Barbara Houtz of Goodman, MO and 5 grandchildren, John Garner, Jr., Britini Garner, Jayden Garner, Kylah Martin and Jaxon Garner.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2020 at N.E.O. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in North Miami, OK with Danny Garner officiating. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 147 Funeral Detail and Quapaw Tribal Fire Dept. Honors Team will provide Firefighter's honors. Services have been placed in the care of Paul Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami, OK.
