Delmar Thurman

Delmar Thurman was born March 30, 1928 in Neosho, Missouri, one of twelve children to Elmer O. and Bertha (Piercy) Thurman. He entered into rest on August 1, 2021 in Neosho, following an extended illness at the age of 93. 

Delmar served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He had worked at Boeing and General Electric and returned to the area in 1977 from Harrisburg, Arkansas. He owned and operated a dairy farm until his retirement. 








Delmar enjoyed being with his family, fishing, camping, outdoor activities, board games and had a great sense of humor. He was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church. 

Delmar and Sylvia Johnson were married on August 13, 1956 and they shared 57 years together before her death on May 27, 2014. 

Delmar is survived by three sons, Bobby (Kim) Thurman of Neosho, Ricky Thurman of Neosho and Steve (Tamara) Thurman of Granby; one brother, Gary Dale Thurman and Connie of Neosho; one sister, Velma Dean (Omer) Eddington of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. 

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by a son, Wayne Thurman; his parents and nine siblings. 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021 at 10 am at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Pastor Barry Reel will officiate. Interment will follow in the Neosho IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho on Wednesday from 11 am until 7 pm and the family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:50 to 6:30 pm at the funeral home.
