Dennis Gean Points, 74, of Carl Junction, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021.

Dennis was born August 26, 1946 in Webb City, Missouri to the late Junior Points and Mildred Carmack. After high school, Dennis enlisted in the United States Army to proudly serve his country. Dennis lived in the Joplin area all of his life and worked many years in the construction industry as a roofer before retiring in 1995.

Dennis enjoyed fishing, camping and cooking catfish. He was an avid outdoorsman and even asked Julia to marry him while fishing at Roaring River. He had a generous heart and was extremely proud of his service in the Army. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart Award, National Defense Service Medal and Combat Infantryman’s Badge. He cherished the time spent and memories created with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. His presence will be missed, but never forgotten.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Julia; his son, Terry Wemer (Jacie); step-sons: Joey Summers (Londa) and Jason Summers (Paige); Grandchildren: Dalton and Dylan Wemer, Franky, Vanessa, Cameron, Kelsie, and Kirsten Summers; four great grandchildren; Dennis’ step-father, Roy Hudgins; brothers: Russell Points (Sue) and Neal Points; sisters: Uldine Ryan (Tim) and Darlene Reynolds (Chester); as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his first wife, Jan Points, on September 10, 2001 (loving mother of Terry Wemer).

Private family services will be held at Burkhart Cemetery with Brother Phil Erwin officiating.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary. Friends who wish to pay final respects to Dennis may do so at Parker Mortuary, Wednesday and Thursday, August 11 and 12th, during normal business hours.
