J. P. Sharp

J.P. Sharp, 85, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Wednesday evening, August 11, 2021, at his home. J.P. was born September 6, 1935, in Stella, Missouri, the son of Elmer P. Sharp and Esther (Clymer) Sharp. 

J.P. was a veteran proudly serving his country in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean War. 

He married the love of his life, Dorothy Joan Davis, on December 14, 1956, in Miami, Oklahoma; he was an excellent care giver and provider for his wife. 








J.P. worked at the bank, worked as a police officer for Carthage Police Department, owned and operated Jay’s Used Cars, and owned and operated his own excavating company. He loved classic cars, but most of all loved his great-grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Renay Maxine Minshew, Carthage; grandchildren, Nathan J. Minshew (Nicole), St. Louis, Missouri, and Arieanna Reynolds (Scott), Pea Ridge, Arkansas; seven great-grandchildren, Gavin, Kenny, Camlen, Tennisie, Liam, Lane, and Natalie; and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer P. Sharp; mother, Esther Erwin; his wife, Dorothy Joan Sharp; a daughter, Marcelay Sharp; a son-in-law, Glen Minshew; and two brothers, LeRoy Sharp, and Joseph Sharp.

Memorial services will be held 2 pm, Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Memorial gifts are suggested to Carthage Humane Society in care of Knell Mortuary.
