(From Clark Funeral Home)Leroy Dean Jennings, age 88, of Neosho, Missouri, passed away at 11:28 p.m. on Monday, August 9, 2021, at his home. He was born July 29, 1933, delivered by his aunt Minnie at his parents' home, the late John Felix and Mary Agnes (York) Jennings.
On February 6, 1950, he married Veta N. Fikes in Neosho. She preceded him in death on March 19, 2009.
Leroy was a lifelong resident of Newton County and attended Belfast Baptist Church. Before retiring, he worked for Foremost Dairies for 13 years, Teledyne for 17 years, and Sunbeam for four years. Leroy loved his family and playing music on any string instrument, especially his Fender Jaguar guitar. He often brought the joy of music to local nursing homes with his friend Jerry Seigel.
He is survived by five sons and their spouses: Keith and Mary Kay Jennings, Kevin and Melissa Jennings, David and Teresa Jennings, all of Neosho, Dennis Jennings of Goodman, and Brian Jennings of Neosho; five daughters and their spouses: Joyce and Orval Musgrave of Neosho, Diane and Jim Basinger of Joplin, Sheryl Hill of Carl Junction, Dena and Gary Huff of Goodman, and Jill and Kevin Larson of Neosho; three sisters: Doris Hoodenpyle of Big Cabin, Oklahoma, Barbara Smith of Vinita, and Faye Hanks of Tennessee; one daughter-in-law, Karen Jennings of Neosho; 40 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
His son Stephen, three sisters, and five brothers also preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 16, 2021, at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Neosho. Burial will follow at the Neosho Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home.
