(From Parker Mortuary)Martin Allan Buck, age 61, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Freeman West in Joplin with family at his side.
Martin was born February 12, 1960 in Yakima, Washington, son of the late Wayne M. Buck and Doris Ann (Taylor) Buck. He grew up in California, graduating from Charter Oak High School in Covina, California where he enjoyed playing football, and was a standout track participant in the high jump.
He loved surfing as a teen, and met his wife, Tracie Lee Long, in 1976 in southern California, and the couple was wed in 1979 in California. They moved to the Joplin area in 1993. He has worked in the trucking industry his entire career, and most recently he was working for Contract Freightliners Inc. (CFI) as the Operations Manager.
Martin loved spending time with his family, especially his children. He enjoyed following his kids sporting activities, and going to Joplin Center Fire with his sons, where he was a longtime member. He and his wife Tracie were big LA Dodgers fans. His favorite times were spent outside next to a campfire with his family who affectionately called him Pop and Papa. He will be greatly missed by his wife, kids, and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Tracie (Long) Buck whom he has been with for 45 years; children, Michelle Young (Christopher) of Joplin, Wayne M. Buck (Ashley) of Carl Junction, and Kyle A. Buck (Jennifer) of Joplin; grandchildren, Addyson Young, Leigha Buck, Carter Buck, Charlotte Buck, and Felix Buck; a sister, Loellen Stewart (Jim) of Kansas City, Missouri.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at his home from 2:30 to 6:00 p.m., 1815 Marigold Dr., Joplin, MO 64801, with family and friends exchanging stories, and celebrating his life.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
