Mike Saale

Michael “Mike” Joseph Saale, 78, of Carl Junction, passed away Friday, August 6, 2021.

Mike was born January 20, 1943 in Chillicothe, Missouri to the late Raymond Saale and Kay (Gillespie) Gibson. 

After high school, Mike enlisted in the United States Navy to proudly serve his country. During his enlistment Mike served on the USS Ranger CV-61. Mike owned and operated Southwest Diesel and MANS Trucking until his retirement in 1995.







Mike was united in marriage to Sue Cowan on October 2, 1962 in Stockton, Missouri. Together they shared 58 precious years together before his passing.

Mike enjoyed golfing, race cars and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He had a generous heart and was extremely proud of his service in the Navy. He cherished the time spent and memories created with his wife, daughters, grandchildren and friends. His presence will be missed, but never forgotten.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Sue; two daughters, Chele Childers (Melvin), Nikki Hart; son-in-law, Mark; grandchildren, Chelsea (Derrick), Lane, Joe, Gracie, Zeke, Hunter, Taylor, Amanda, Travis; great grandson, Ty; sisters, Angie Helmandollar (Bob), Marty Wolf, Suzie Renner, Christy Utter (Ray); brother, Greg Gipson (Denise); as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Parker Mortuary Chapel in Joplin with John Newberry officiating. Interment will be at Lindley Prairie Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 6:00 – 7:00 pm at the mortuary. Lane Goodwin, Joe Goodwin, Rod Hendricks, Steve Cowan, Zach Lollar and Ely Hendricks will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are JD Stephens, Bob Helmandollar, Jim Newman, Joe Mckenzie and Tom “Hank Rotten” Perry.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
