Lucille Long Sanders, age 88, Joplin, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018, at Mercy Hospital, surrounded by her family.
She was born on February 4, 1930 in Christian County, Missouri, the daughter of Jake Stanley and Sally Mills Long. Lucille was a homemaker and loved caring for her family. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and her jigsaw puzzles. She married Herman E. Sanders on June 22, 1990 in Sarcoxie, Missouri. She was a member of the Church of God (Seventh-Day).
Lucille is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman; one son, Allen Bigley; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Survivors include one son, Cecil V. Weber (Faye) of Opolis, Kansas; one daughter, Gail Garrett (Jim) of Joplin; one daughter-in-law, Dorothy Bigley, of Carterville, Missouri; two sons, Randy Sanders (Marcia) of Van Buren, Arkansas, Rodney Sanders (Jane), of Joplin; two daughters, Rhonda Snyder (Wayne) and Ragena Snyder (Duane) all of Neck City, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are planned for Monday, May 7th, 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary with Rev. Dave Gartner officiating. Pallbearers will be Lucille’s grandchildren and her great-grandchildren; Adam Crisamore, Zach Dixon, Jimmy Weber, Randal Cook, Matthew Sanders and Zach Snyder. Honorary pallbearers are three of Lucille’s grandchildren; Sgt. Chase Dixon, U.S. Army, HM3 Anthony Benton, U.S. Navy, and Brian Wiseman. Burial will be in Carl Junction Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 6th from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Greater Missouri Alzheimer’s Association, 9370 Olive Blvd, St. Louis, Missouri 63132-3214.
