Kevin Wilson

Kevin Wilson, 62, Neosho, entered the gates of heaven on June 8, 2021, surrounded by his loving family, following a lengthy illness. 

Kevin was born September 24, 1958 in Neosho, one of two children to Bill and Earlene (Chrisco) Wilson. He graduated from Neosho High School in 1976 and was the recipient of a four year scholarship with the U.S. Air Force to the University of Missouri where he earned a B.S. degree in management in 1980 and then a Masters degree in management from the Golden Gate University. 








He served as commander of the manpower unit at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, South Carolina and then returned to Neosho in 1985. He used his education in human resources for the next 36 years, working at Teledyne, Joplin Schools, Cardinal Scales, La-Z-Boy Midwest and Moark Industries. 

In 2002, Kevin was honored to be elected to the Missouri House of Representatives where he served from 2003-2011. He later formed his own consulting firm, Legacy Consulting Group, LLC, providing consultation and training services to area businesses until his death. 

Kevin was active and supportive of his community, serving on numerous boards and committees, including, the Neosho School Board, Neosho Area Economic Development Committee, Children’s Mercy Hospital County, founding board member of the Neosho Freeman Family YMCA, Crowder College Foundation and served on the Board of Directors of the Christopher Foundation from its inception to present time. 








Kevin was awarded the Neosho Exchange Club Book of Golden Deeds and recognized as one of the top five first year Jaycees in the U.S. and outstanding young men in America. Kevin’s passions were God, country and family. He was a member of the Neosho First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and elder. He loved his African brothers and sisters whom he met while on two medical mission trips to Senegal West Africa through the Open Doors Foundation. 

Kevin and Melody (Lucas) were married on August 12, 1978 and she survives. 

In addition to his wife of 42 years, he is survived by two sons, Sean (Hope) Wilson and Patrick (Crystal) Wilson, both of Neosho; six grandchildren, whom he adored, Helayna, Lucas, Evie, Aria, Colt and Freya; one sister, Kathy Wilson of Goodman and nephews, Dustin Richmond and Jared (Heather) Richmond and numerous cousins. 

He is preceded in death by his parents.
