(From Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary)Mrs. Kathryn Jean Cash, 68, of Wichita, Kansas, formerly of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Thursday afternoon, August 5, 2021, at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
Kathryn entered this life on November 5, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was raised in Joplin, Missouri and was a 1971 graduate of McAuley Catholic High School. She furthered her education at MSSC in Joplin, receiving her degree in social work. In 1992, she moved to Wichita, Kansas.
Kathryn worked in the field of mental health throughout her life. She was an advocate for The Mental Health Association in Wichita for several years. She enjoyed collecting antiques and researching family genealogy. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Joplin and Christ the King Catholic Church in Wichita.
Her parents, William Everett and Opal Margaret (Meinke) Cash and an infant daughter, Dixie Jean Inman, preceded her in death.
Kathryn is survived by her three children, Margaret Ann “Peggy” Self and husband, Bill, of Joplin, Barbara Smith of Iola, Kansas and William Glander of Wichita; six grandchildren; one great granddaughter; three sisters, Carol Collins, Treva Eubanks and Norma Jean Johnson; a brother, Harry Rice; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Oakwood Cemetery near Neosho, Missouri with Father Chaz Dunn officiating. Friends may pay their respects on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin. Arrangements are under the direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin.
