(From Parker Mortuary)Sherry Lynn Gaetke, age 71, Joplin, passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021 at Mercy of Joplin after a lengthy illness.
Sherry was born November 16, 1949 in Enumclaw, Washington, one of nine born to the late Patrick Emmitt McQuade and Neva Ardice (Cook) McQuade.
She loved to cook for family and friends, and this love of cooking led to opening the Wagonwheel in Chisago City, Minnesota, which she enjoyed very much.
She moved to Joplin in 2004 where she loved to go fishing, and shop garage sales. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She always cooked too much food for the family gatherings, more than her family could eat. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her sons, James Gaetke, Jr. of Joplin, Sean Gaetke and wife Dana of Phoenix, Arizona; daughters, Carrie Gaetke and Tammy Gaetke; grandchildren, Tiffany Pilcher and Brittany Plaza all of Joplin; great-granddaughter, Bree Pilcher; several brothers and sisters, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021 beginning at 2:30 p.m. at the Bookhouse Cinema, 715 E. Broadway St., Joplin, Missouri.
