(From Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary)Mary Agnes Schriever, 98, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at her home surrounded by family.
Mary was born September 3, 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Frank and Margaret Henke. Mary grew up in the St. Louis area, moving to Carthage with her husband when she was 23. They lived above the shoe store which they owned and operated. Mary spent more than 40 years working at Schriever Shoes.
Mary was united in marriage to Roland Louis Schriever in 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri. Together they had seven children and shared 40 precious years before his passing.
Mary was an active member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Joplin, Missouri and a past member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Carthage, Missouri. She was a member of the Legion of Mary and volunteered locally at the Outreach House and Crosslines Ministries. Mary had been an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan from the time she was young and belonged to the Knot Hole Gang in St. Louis. She even celebrated her last birthday at the ballpark enjoying a Cardinals game with family. She cherished all the memories created with family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was also preceded in death by a son Larry Schriever and siblings, Hank, Rose and Catherine.
Mary is lovingly survived by her children, Roland Louis Schriever II and wife, Susan, Gary Schriever, Alan Schriever, Dina Shriver, Mark Schriever, Jim Schriever; grandchildren, Courtney Schriever Plunkett and husband, Mark, Lindsay Schriever Underwood and husband, Nick, Harley Schriever and wife, Tasha, Lane Friedman and husband, Matt Lonardo, Ruben Friedman, Grace Schriever, Jacob Schriever, Rachel Schriever; great grandchildren, Makayla Plunkett, Chelsea Plunkett, Camille Plunkett, Graham Underwood, Emersen Underwood, Rhys Underwood, Jackson Schriever, Jaelyn Schriever, Aria Lonardo, Arlo Lonardo; siblings, Margaret “Tootie” Lambert, Re Henke and Erma Doherty; together with a host of extended family and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with Reverend J. Friedel and Reverend Joe Weidenbennder officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, October 8, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. all at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary at 602 south Byers Avenue Joplin, Missouri.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary.
