Russell Morrison

Russell Leroy Morrison, age 96, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2021. Russell was born August 22, 1925 in rural Galesburg, Missouri to Farrell Barton Morrison and Opal Lorene Long.

Russell enlisted in the US Navy September 1942 and served until November 1945 in WWII as a metal smith 1st Class in the Caribbean theatre.

Russell married the love of his life Frances Louise Cossey June 27, 1945 in Columbus, Kansas. They moved to the Joplin area in 1945 where they have resided since. 








After the military Russell went to work for Atlas Powder Company where he worked for over 35 years and retired from in 1985.

Russell was a member of Masonic Lodges 335 and 345 for over 60 years and served as Past Master. He was also a member of the Saginaw ATA. He always enjoyed his time at the cabin he built and fishing on Grand Lake.

Russell was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Belew and brother Charles Cossey.

Russell is survived by his wife, Frances Louise Cossey Morrison, his daughter, Brenda Morrison Rose (Kevin), sister, June Redding, and grandson, Dylan Patrick Morrison Rose (Stevie).

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
