Mona Rogers

Marilyn Ramona “Mona” Rogers, 72, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Tuesday evening, October 19, 2021, at St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Carthage, Missouri. 

Mona was born June 16, 1949, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the daughter of Elton Leroy Lawson and Bernice Pearl (Ogden) Lawson. She was a 1967 graduate of Carthage High School. 










Mona married William “Bill” Rogers on June 27, 1970. She was employed with Big Smith and later for Leggett & Platt in the corporate office, working as a key punch operator. She then helped her husband Bill run their business, Rogers Auto Repair, in Carthage until her retirement. She was a member of the Carthage Garden Club and First Baptist Church, Carthage. Mona enjoyed gardening, reading, fishing, hunting, and traveling, especially her trips to Maine.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Bill Rogers; three brothers, Melvin Morgan (Lois), Tucson, Arizona, Kirk Lawson (Linda), Carthage, Missouri, and Preston Lawson (Marie), New Strawn, Kansas; six nieces and nephews, Heather (Lawson) Ali, Aaron Morgan, Mendy (Lawson) Lasley, Stephanie Morgan, Melissa (Lawson) Horton, and Wyatt Lawson; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held 10 am, Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Carthage. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm, Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Memorial gifts are suggested to Integrity Hospice or St. Luke’s Nursing Home in care of Knell Mortuary. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
