(From Terrace Park Funeral Home)Steve Lohse passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 20th, 2021 in Kansas City, MO.
Steve was born in Climbing Hill, IA on May 4th, 1954 to Marian and Harold Lohse. He moved to Tulsa with his family in 1968. Steve attended Missouri Southern and graduated in 1978.
After college, he returned to Tulsa and worked for Fiesta Pools & Spas before starting his own business, Paradise Pool Repair. He moved to Joplin in 1992 where he raised his own family and continued to build and repair pools.
Steve relocated to Kansas City in 2002 where he was a long time employee of Kansas City International Airport. He greeted everyone with a smile, hug and if you were lucky, a miniature Snickers. Outside of work, he would greet you with a shot of Fireball or Jaegermeister. He knew how to light up a room with his outgoing personality.
Steve was a lifelong Oklahoma Sooners fan and just a couple of weeks ago finally made the trip to Texas for the Red River Showdown game. Steve was an avid hunter and always looked forward to opening weekend with his great friend, Jud.
He had many friends between working at the airport and in his personal life. They can tell you stories that will keep you laughing for days. Steve was surrounded by neighbors that he loved like family and they always made sure he was taken care of. He loved to travel and took many amazing trips in the last few years to places he dreamt of seeing. Concerts and loud music were a favorite pastime for him. More than anything, he loved his daughters and his grandchildren. He was constantly bragging about them and showing off photos.
Steve is survived by his two daughters, Heather Ward and her husband, Brian, and Haven Patton and her husband, Tyler, his sisters, Holly Hartley and Keri Kerr and her husband, Jeff. He was blessed with 4 beautiful grandchildren, Reagan, Harper, Knox and Lennon, that were the light of his life. He will also be dearly missed by his nieces Sasha, Hali, McKyla, Tavish and great nephews Jake and Wyatt. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Marian and Harold Lohse, and his sister Dianne Lohse.
