Paul Brown

Paul Edward Brown, 98, passed away on October 15, 2021, in Springfield, Missouri. Paul was born in Pittsburg, Kansas, on February 6, 1923, to Wilburn and Mary (Kingston) Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Carl W Brown, Leo E Brown, and Ivan Merle Brown.

Paul spent most of his life in Joplin, Missouri, graduating from Joplin High School in 1941. After serving in World War II as a Navy SeaBee in the Pacific, he returned to Joplin and married Peggy Lou Jackson on July 6, 1947. 








Paul was a long-time member of Oakland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), serving as a deacon, Chancel Choir member, and sponsor of the Christian Youth Fellowship with Peggy. In 2017, he and Peggy moved to Springfield to be closer to family.

Paul worked 32 years for Sperry Vickers/Unisys as a Manufacturing Engineer and retired in June 1985. An avid sports fan, he was a member of the Missouri Southern Lionbackers, loved the Arkansas Razorbacks, and played golf for 40 years at Briarbrook Golf and Country Club.

Paul is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughter, Sally Jenkins (David) of Springfield; two grandchildren, Melissa Bown (Roger) of Springfield and Chad Jenkins (Shellie) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; four great grandchildren, Ian Holland, Kendyn Jenkins, Kasyn Jenkins, and Savanna Bown; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 2:30 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2021, in the chapel of Parker Mortuary with Rev. Jody Furnas Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 p.m. until the time of service in the mortuary chapel.
