Sheila Roland

Sheila Fae Roland, age 79, of Lamar, Missouri passed away October 10, 2021, after a brief stay in the Truman Healthcare Alzheimer's Unit in Lamar, Missouri.

Sheila was born June 4, 1942 in Lamar, Missouri and was the only child of William Douglas Thompson and Eva Fae (Divine) Thompson. She graduated from Lamar High School in the class of 1960.She furtheredf her education at Cottey College for secretarial training. On February 18, 1961, she was united in marriage to Larry Joe Roland in Lamar, Missouri. Soon after, the couple moved to Rolla, Missouri so Larry could get his engineering certification.








After returning to Lamar to eventually reside in the same neighborhood she grew up in, Sheila stayed home to raise her two children before working as a traffic manager at O'Sullivan Industries until retirement in 2001. Sheila was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for her friends and family, crocheting, fishing, making China dolls, golfing, and playing bridge. Sheila was a member of the New Century Club, Red Hat Ladies, PEO, Bowling League, Eastern Star and the Deer Camp Ladies. Larry and Sheila loved to travel together, one of their favorite anniversary trips was to Hawaii. At an early age she became a member of the Lamar United Methodist Church where later she was instrumental in the Prayer Shawl Ministry.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Roland, one daughter, Eva Roland Buchanan, one son, Curt and his wife Susan Roland all of Lamar, grandchildren; Kelli and her husband Saula Niqara of Arlington, Virginia, Ashley and her husband Roger Payne Jr. of St. James, Missouri, Kailey and her husband Brenyn Jungmann of Belton, Missouri, Kenna and her husband Jacob Russell of Lenexa, Kansas, Kip Roland and his wife Lauren of Bentonville, Arkansas, two great-grandchildren; Roger "RJ" Payne III and Maralynne Payne, nieces; Dana Carver and Elizabeth Armstrong.

Preceding Sheila in death were her parents, step-mom, Sara Jo Thompson, son-in-law, Tim Buchanan, nephew, Bradley Armstrong, sister-in-law, Janice Armstrong and brother-in-law, Charles Armstrong

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 25, 2021, at Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lake Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, Sunday, October 24, 2021 at the funeral home.
