(From Clark Funeral Home)Herbert ‘Herb’ Reding was born November 4, 1934, in Neosho, one of three children to George W. and Merlene (Mefford) Reding. He entered into rest on October 25, 2021, in the comfort of his home, at the age of 86.
Herb was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Neosho High School class of 1952. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1956.
Following his discharge from the Army, he returned to Neosho where he worked at McClintock’s IGA until 1970. He then managed Ramey’s in Neosho and transferred to Springfield in 1974. In 1977, he built and operated Reding’s Big Star in Chaffee, Missouri until 1978, when he returned to the area and purchased Gaston’s IGA in Goodman where he remained until his retirement in 1999.
He enjoyed bowling, playing golf, watching Cardinals baseball and the Kansas City Chiefs Football. He was a longtime member of the Neosho First Christian Church.
Herb and Glenna (Pogue) were married on February 15, 1957, at the First Christian Church and she survives.
In addition to his wife of 64 years, Herb is survived by three children, Gary Reding and wife, Tamara of Chesterfield, Missouri, Terry Reding and wife, Diann of O’Fallon, Missouri, and Donna Reding of Neosho, Missouri: five grandchildren, Pearce Reding and wife, Lauryn, Adrienne Reding, Dan Sollars and wife, Melissa, Jennifer Prier and husband, Mike, and Avery Reding and two great-grandchildren, Shelby Hunter and Emily Sollars.
He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Teresa, an infant son, Bradley, and two sisters, Retha Wade, and Imogene Buzzard.
