(From Paul Thomas Funeral Home)Terry Gene Hughes of Miami, OK passed from this life Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO. He was 71.
Terry was born February 10, 1950 in Stroud, OK to Vernon and Faye (Schwemley) Hughes. He had lived in Miami for the past 51 years. Terry graduated from Davenport High School in 1968 and worked in sales and management for Anthony’s Department Store in Grove, Neosho and Miami, he also had worked for Stage Department Store, Dollar General and Walgreens in Miami, OK. He was a member of the River of Life Assembly of God church in North Miami, OK and served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher and a member of the Muscogee Creek Nation.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents.
Terry married Vickie (Johnson) Hughes May 23, 1970 and she survives of the home. Additional survivors include 1 son, Rev. Vernon James Hughes and wife Rachel of Zachary, LA, 1 daughter, Angela Christine Hughes of Springfield, MO, 1 brother, Michael Hughes of Edmond, OK and 3 grandchildren, Andrew Hughes, Matthew Hughes and Elizabeth Hughes.
Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2021 at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK. Rev. Vernon James Hughes and Rev. Jon Bledsoe will officiate. The family will receive friends following service at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel, Miami, OK.
