Richard Deardorff

Richard N. Deardorff, age 70, passed away at 9:37 am, Monday, October 18, 2021 at his home following an illness.

Richard was born April 10, 1951 in Joplin, Missouri. His parents were John and Grace (Walker) Deardorff. Richard graduated from Galena High School with the class of 1969. He then moved to Jasper County, MO living there for 45 years, returning to Galena in 2016.









He continued his education, earning a Master’s degree and a Specialist in Education degree from Pitt State University. He taught 5th grade and was the High School swimming and diving coach in the Webb City school system for 35 years before his retirement.

Richard was a member of Christ Church of Oronogo. He enjoyed fishing with his boys and was a history buff, with an interest in local Civil War history. He was a gifted storyteller.

Richard was married to Kay Price on November 22, 1998 in Oronogo, MO. She survives

Additional survivors are his sons, Blake and Tricia Deardorff, Bentonville, AR, Grant and Jennifer Deardorff, Webb City, MO, Drew Deardorff, Springfield, MO, Chad and Aimee Denton, Galena, Jason and Wendy Denton, Carl, Junction, MO, and Jeremy and Marsha Denton, Webb City, MO; and 13 grandchildren.

Richard was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS for cremation. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 2 – 5 pm, Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the home in Galena. The family asks those attending to observe Covid restrictions.
