Mike Perry

Michael Moore “Mike” Perry, Sr., age 94, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away at 2:16 p.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Spring River Christian Village in Joplin, Missouri. He was born June 14, 1927, in Ottowa County, Oklahoma, the son of the late Ezekiel Sel and Mary “Edna” (Williams) Perry.

Mike lived in Newton and Jasper Counties his entire life. He graduated from Joplin High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran. 








On August 14, 1950, he married Margaret Elizabeth Mink in Columbus, Kansas. Mike worked for the Missouri Highway Department as a material inspector for 38 years, retiring in 1985. He was baptized in Big Spring Park at the age of seven and was a member of the First Methodist Church in Joplin. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, was a beekeeper, and loved collecting antiques, traveling, and visiting with his friends at the various coffee clutches in the area.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; five children, Janet (Lee) Greninger of Joplin, Albert (Kiethlyn) Perry of Austin, Texas, Anna (Burney) Johnson of Neosho, Roger (Theresa) Perry of Pearcy, Arkansas, and Ellen (Steve) Cantrell of Belleville, Arkansas; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, his son Michael Perry, Jr., daughter, Phyllis Perry, and two brothers, Pete and Jack Perry, preceded him in death.

Under the direction of the Clark Funeral Home in Neosho, Missouri, a graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021, at Cummings Chapel Cemetery in Tiff City, Missouri. The casket will be closed at all times. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested, memorial contributions may be made to the M.S. Society c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.
