(From Derfelt Funeral Home)David Richard Boyes, age 70, passed away at 6:30 pm, Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Joplin Health and Rehab, Joplin, MO following an illness.
David was born February 28, 1951 in Joplin, MO. His parents were Jack and Colleen (Swain) Boyes. He grew up in Galena, KS and graduated from Galena High School with the class of 1969.
David worked as an independent truck driver for a number of years. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, motocross and driving sprint cars. He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association.
Surviving are his 6 children; Melanie Rhinehart (Brandon), Oklahoma City, OK, Colby Boyes (Shannon), Carl Junction, MO, Davin Boyes (Kellie), Kansas City, MO, David Boyes ((Brianna),Marla England (Dale) Neosho, MO, and Jessica Hudson, Branson, MO; his father, Jack Boyes, Galena, KS; his brother, Darrell Boyes (Darlene), Galena, KS; and 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
His mother, Colleen Boyes preceded him in death.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS. Pastor Aaron Polok will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Monday, November 1, 2021 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.
