Larry Gary

Larry Gene Gary entered into rest on October 27, 2021, in the comfort of his home with his family, following three years of failing health at the age of 80. Larry was born June 9, 1941, in Granby, Missouri, and was a lifelong area resident. 

He graduated from Granby High School and, in 1963, began his trucking career. He started his company, Larry Gary Trucking, Inc., in 1987 and operated the company until his retirement in 1998. 








In 1994, Larry suffered from diverticulitis and almost lost his life, and the Good Lord healed him. In 1998, he had a brain aneurysm, and by faith in the Lord, he was healed. Larry was a good husband and dad. He enjoyed several hobbies, raising chickens, guineas, turkeys, turkins, and peacocks. He enjoyed telling trucking stories, spending time with his family, and attending church. Larry and Jo (Norris) were married on November 24, 1958, in Miami, Oklahoma, and they shared 62 years together.

In addition to his wife, Jo, he is survived by twin sons, Terrell Gary, and wife, Heather, of Granby and Darrell Gary and wife, Mandy, of Neosho; daughter-in-law, Ursula Gary of Neosho; six grandchildren, Dallas Gary, Otti Gary and wife, Carla, Travis Gary and wife, Halee, Peyton Gary and Hailey Gary and Lorelei Mitchell and five great-grandchildren, KaNayia, N’yir and Tra’von Davis, Elena and Levi Mitchell. He is preceded in death by a son, Ronald Eugene ‘Ronnie’ Gary, his parents, Gene and Vera Gary, sister, Carol Ann Fry, brother-in-law, David Norris and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jack and Mildred Norris.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 1, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Clark Funeral Home Chapel, Granby. Interment will follow in the Granby Memorial Cemetery. Kurk Ellison, Doug Reed, Junior Weston, Kevin Tuttle, Jeff Carter, and Travis Gary will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Terrell Gary, Darrell Gary, and Randy Armstrong. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 -2:00 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home, Granby. Contributions in memory of Larry may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Avalon Hospice, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 26; Granby, Missouri 64844.
