(From Fohn Funeral Home)Lanny Grey Hopkins, age 77, of Joplin, Missouri passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri.
He was born November 1, 1943 in Cassville, Missouri, the son of Ted P. and Georgia (Williams) Hopkins. On October 28, 1976 in Joplin, Missouri he was united in marriage to Sandra Woods, who survives. Also surviving are one sister, Sue Stiles and her husband Gary of Cassville, Missouri, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Judy Cooper and one brother-in-law, Don Cooper.
Lanny grew up in Cassville and graduated from Cassville High School in 1961. After graduation he started Joplin Junior College, then worked for a while before returning to study at Missouri Southern in Joplin where he received his Bachelor Degree. He then began his career at Cummins as a manager from where he retired in 2002. Lanny was an avid golfer having played in many local tournaments. Other favorite pastimes were going fishing in Canada and Argentina, being outdoors and good conversation with his many friends. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Cassville.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville, Missouri. Reverend John Edie will conduct the services.
Contributions may be made to Corinth Cemetery in memory of Lanny.
