(From Clark Funeral Home)David Anderson Wood, age 76, of Joplin, Missouri, went to be with his Lord and savior at 12:37 a.m. on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
He was born June 29, 1945, in Wichita, Kansas, to the late Claude Anderson “Woody” and Hazel Rose (Greenway) Wood. Dave graduated from Walker High School in Walker, Missouri.
On June 21, 1964, he married Carol Ann Hedges in Lamar, Missouri.
Dave graduated from Ozark Christian College in Joplin with dual degrees in Christian Education and Biblical Literature. He worked for United Parcel Service as a package driver and air shuttle driver, retiring after 30 years of service. Dave proudly performed marriage ceremonies for the Precious Moments Chapel and various family members through the years. He was a current member of and previous Elder for College Heights Christin Church and former member, and Christian Education Minister at Diamond Christian Church.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Carol; four children, Christy Cole and her husband, Don; Bert Wood and his wife, Deanna, David Wood and his wife, Beth; Wade Wood and his wife, Sandi, all of whom reside in Newton County; twelve grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, one granddaughter, Emma Lee Wood, two great-granddaughters, Morgan Sherbino and Adalyn Sooter, and two brothers, Richard and Michael Wood preceded him in death.
A funeral service under the direction of the Clark Funeral Home in Neosho will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Racine Christian Church with Pastor Jay St. Clair officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday in the Clark Funeral Home in Neosho. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Addy Joy’s Hope Foundation c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.
