(From Parker Mortuary)Mr. Walter Gerald Lett, 95, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Friday, October 15, 2021, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri.
Walter entered this life on February 21, 1926, in Powell, Missouri, son of the late Walter Moses and Effie (Edwards) Lett. He was raised and attended school in Powell. Walter served his country faithfully in the United States Navy during WW-II.
Walter moved to Joplin, Missouri, after his honorable discharge from the military. He worked in the field of sheet metal his entire life. He owned and operated Lett Specialty Sheet Metal for nearly thirty years. Prior to becoming self-employed, he worked for Rainey’s Sheet Metal and Hardy Sheet Metal. He enjoyed listening to live music and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his children, Agnes Lett; and fifteen siblings.
Walter is survived by his two children, Ron Lett and companion, Gwen Johnson, of Joplin and Bekki Mitchell also of Joplin; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Osborne Memorial Cemetery in Joplin with Kathleen Kensington officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri.
