George Pflug

George Phillip Pflug, age 90, Joplin, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022.

George was born February 20, 1932 in Joplin, son of the late Edward Pflug and Mayme (Evans) Pflug. He graduated from Joplin High School in 1950, and worked for years with Joplin Supply, and then Superior Supply working in Heating and Air. He also served 26 years with the Naval Reserve and National Guard retiring as a Sergeant First Class.








He married Juanita Sunderland on June 13, 1952, and they lived in Joplin and after his retirement in 1996, they moved to Shell Knob, MO. They returned to Joplin 10 years later. He was a member of the Mount Hope Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 63 years, Juanita (Sunderland) Pflug, who passed away on February 9, 2016, and four brothers.

Survivors include his children, George P. “Phil” Pflug, Jr. and wife Sara of Oronogo, Deborah Lynn Rooney of Tulsa, OK, and Sharon Lee Boatwright and husband John of Joplin; sister, Marjorie Santori of Roundrock, TX; grandchildren, Meghan Rooney, Kim Neihaus, Shannon Linder, Justin Pflug, and Faith Pflug; eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Hope Church of Christ. Inurnment of his ashes will be next to his wife in Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
