(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Kay Celeste (Seay) Brooks of Joplin, MO, age 64, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2022, at home. She was born in Joplin, MO on May 11, 1957 to LeRoy and Ruth (Proctor) Seay. She was a resident of the Joplin area all her adult life.
Kay loved her family and prided herself on being a fun mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She had two daughters, Destiny Prettyman and April Howard, that blessed her with seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In her younger days, you could catch Kay enjoying the outdoors. Camping, fishing and canoeing were her favorite ways to spend her time. She was an avid reader as well. Kay was a member of the Sheep Shed Church in Neosho, MO.
Survivors include her daughters, Destiny Prettyman and significant other, Rocky Cunningham of Joplin; April Howard of Joplin; sisters, Bonnie Fleenor; Christine Nelson; Lisa Alderman; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.
Kay was preceded in death by both parents; sister, Candy Sanchez; brothers, Jay Powell, and Thomas Seay.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are under the care of Mason-Woodard Mortuary in Joplin.
