Robyn Bowin

Robyn ReneĆ© Bowin, 61, of Scammon, KS, entered into the arms of Jesus on Friday, April 1, 2022, at Via Christi Hospital surrounded by family and friends. She was born September 22, 1960 in Omaha, NE, the daughter of Larry and Kathleen (Ledford) Reynolds. 

She graduated from Southeast High School with the Class of 1978. She then graduated from Pittsburg State University with her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and later received her Masters’ Degrees in Educational Leadership and Administration.








On June 1, 1980, she was united in marriage to David Bowin. He survives at the home. Robyn had a special connection with children and taught for 32 years, mostly in the Columbus School District. Robyn was an active mother and nana to her children and grandchildren and attended as many events as they were involved in. She enjoyed the family owned honey business and loved her nickname, “Queen Bee.” 

Robyn had a gift for loving and welcoming people into her home. She had eyes to see the needs of others and was quick to respond in her loving way. She enjoyed luncheons and shopping with life-long friends. She served as a door greeter and usher at her home church, Christ Church of Oronogo, along with her husband.

She was greatly loved by her family and friends. Robyn and David raised two children: son, Jared Bowin and his wife Dylan of Riverton, KS; their three children Bear, Jolie, and Rollie. Her daughter, Shantel Oplotnik and her husband Jon, of Brownwood, TX; their three children Aiden, Owen, and Claire. Additional survivors include her parents, Larry and Kathleen Reynolds of Joplin, MO, her brother Roger and Sharla Reynolds of Freeport, FL; their children Annie and Michael Velasco and family, and Brice Reynolds; her sister, Ronda and Kelly Lawson of Joplin, MO; their children Sylvia, Ellie Rose, and Jack. Robyn was loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and an honorary grandchild, Madi Goforth.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Christ’s Church of Oronogo/Student Ministry Center East with Rev. Mark Christian and Rev. Dustin Ledford officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to assist in Children’s Ministry. These may be mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th St. Pittsburg, KS 66762.
