Barbara A. (Smith) McCoy, age 77, Joplin, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 after a 14 year long battle with cancer.
Barbara was born September 1, 1939 to the late Edward and Wilma Warren Smith and had lived in Joplin all of her life.
She married Harold L. McCoy on November 18, 1957 in Joplin, Missouri.
Barbara was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church, where she taught two year olds Sunday class and worked in the Sunday evening nursery. Her first love was for her children. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
In addition to her husband of 59 years, she is survived by her three children, Mark McCoy, Mindy Storm and her husband Greg, and Missy Heilbrun and husband, Richard; a brother, Jim Howerton and his wife, Pam; four grandchildren, Breanna, Dustin, McKenna, Markie and nine great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Howerton.
Funeral services are planned for Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Park Baptist Church Chapel. Rev. John Swadley will officiate. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dustin Storm, J.D. Newkirk, Greg Storm, Rick Heibrun, Jack Golden and Tom Warren. The family will receive friends Thursday 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, in care of Parker Mortuary.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the prayers, cards and calls during this difficult time.
