Mary Melinda Singleton-Parker, age 66, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016 after a sudden illness.
Mary was born March 20, 1950 in Joplin, daughter of the late Walter Scott and LaDell Robinson Swindell. She graduated from Joplin High School and then entered the Job Corp which allowed her to live in several locations throughout her life; returning to Joplin several years ago where she worked for Wal-Mart as a cashier manager. She was an active member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, she also enjoyed her years participating in local bowling, reading, and completing jigsaw puzzles.
Survivors include her sons, Kevin H. Singleton and David C. Singleton both of Joplin; brother, John T. Singleton and wife Ann of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; sisters, Elizabeth Singleton of Joplin, Phyllis Harris of Chicago, Illinois, Yvonne McBrayer, Melissa Swindell, Cindy Daggett and husband Kevin all of Joplin; grandchildren, Kevyn James Singleton, Aaron D. Porter, Trevonte J. Singleton, Karma Singleton, RahQuinn Singleton, and Kieara Peavler; great-grandchildren, Khadjia Porter and Khalil Porter; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; two very special friends, her cousin, Patricia Iverson, and best friend, Paula Hodges.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Jerry Hodges officiating. Interment of her ashes will be at a later date in Parkway Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
