Ruth Kenney

Ruth I. Bagby Kenney, 91, Carthage, MO, passed away Wednesday morning, December 14, 2016 at Carthage Health & Rehab, Carthage. Ruth Irene Giger was born May 27, 1925 in Newton County, MO to the late Clyde David Giger and Alma (Gilbreath) Giger. She graduated from Granby High School, Class of 1944. Ruth married Van Bagby on May 22, 1946; he preceded her in death on December 13, 1970. She married Kenneth E. Kenney on October 9, 1974; he preceded her in death on August 13, 2007. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Carthage. She loved sewing, piecing quilts, baking cookies, and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Survivors include one son, Clyde Bagby, Belton, MO; one step-daughter, Sheila Mitchell, Carthage, MO; one daughter-in-law, Janice Bagby, Carthage, MO; two sisters, Carol Goen, Huntington Beach, CA and Vera Lea Hansford, Diamond, MO; six grandchildren, Jackie Linder (husband Chris), Justin Bagby (wife Mishelle), Jeremy Bagby (wife Monica), Jeff Mitchell (wife Lisa), Terri Wheat (husband Chris), and Elizabeth Bagby; eleven great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her late husband Van Bagby, her late husband Kenneth Kenney, two sons, Jack Bagby and David Henry Bagby, two sisters, Ruby Ralston and Fayanell Burris, and one brother, Loren Giger.

Visitation will be held 4-5 p.m., Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Monday, December 19, 2016 at Knell Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Dustin Ledford will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Sarcoxie Cemetery, Sarcoxie, MO. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
