Ernest Paul Ulbrich, 89, of rural Seneca, MO, passed from this life on Friday, December 23, 2016 while at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO.
Ernie was born on March 28, 1927 in Grandin, MO, son of the late Edward and Edna (Kluender) Ulbrich. Ernie went to school in Grandin, and at the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country honorably during World War II. Following time spent in Burden, KS, Ernie returned to Missouri where he made his home. For many years, he owned and operated Ernie’s Auto Service north of Copeland’s Corner.
On June 28, 1973, Ernie married Mable Lee Gooch in Miami, OK. They have been blessed with over 43 years of wonderful memories made together.
Survivors include his wife, Mable, of the home; his three sons, Ernie Ulbrich and Rick Ulbrich, of Winfield, KS and Joshua Ulbrich, of Nashville, TN; one daughter, Linda Ulbrich, of Winfield, KS; one brother, Henry “Hank” Ulbrich, of St. Louis, MO; one sister, Dorothy Straughn, of Farmington, MO; and six grandchildren, Jaime Ulbrich, of Jacksonville, FL, Grant Ulbrich, of Miami, FL, Reagan Ulbrich, of Nashville, TN, Candace and Kaitlyn Ulbrich, of Winfield, KS and Crystal Ulbrich, of Wichita, KS.
Ernie was preceded in death by one daughter at birth, Paula Marie Ulbrich; and five brothers, Edmond, Edwin, Ewalt, Walter and Oscar Ulbrich.
Memorial visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Bethany Baptist Church, 6902 Old 60 Drive, Neosho, MO. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift can be made to the DAV or to the Navy Seal Foundation. Online condolences can be made at www.buchananfuneralhomemonett.com.
