(From Clark Funeral Home)

Maxine Frankie Emerson, 87, reached out and took the hand of God, passing joyfully into eternity on December 25, 2016 at Freeman Neosho Hospital in Neosho, Missouri.

Maxine was born September 12, 1929 in Alex, Oklahoma, one of six children born to Henry and Elizabeth (Bagwell) Edgar. Her parents, four brothers and a sister preceded her in death. Her husband of 32 years, Don Emerson, also preceded her in death in 1998. Maxine spent her early years in Oklahoma, where she attended primary school in Manitou, Oklahoma at Holden School. In 1941, when she was 12 years old, her family relocated to Bakersfield, California, where she grew up and completed high school. She had a very long career with Bell Telephone organization, rising from telephone operator to office supervisor in San Luis Obispo, California. She took a break from the telephone company for a time and was front office manager of the Madonna Inn. During her working years, she was frequently honored as Employee of the Year and Businesswoman of the Year, not only at the local level, but at the state level as well.

She is survived by her three daughters, Amy Robbins and her husband, Galen of Neosho, Missouri; Elizabeth Zalud and Carl Buchannan of Arroyo, California and Margaret White of the state of California; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. While living in California, Maxine was a very active member of the Central Coast Baptist Church, Grover Beach, California, and leaves behind a wonderful church filled with families and friends who loved her, as she loved them. In 2012, she came to live with her eldest daughter, Amy. Maxine found a new church home and family at The Canopy, Neosho, Missouri.

Maxine has been taken for cremation and private family services will be held at a later date at the Crown Hill Cemetery, Coldwater, Kansas.
