James "Richard" Guthrie, age 82 of Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at his home following an extended illness.
Richard was born February 17, 1934 in Fairland, Oklahoma to the late Clyde Guthrie and Maymie Preston Guthrie. Richard served in the U.S. Army. He retired from TAMKO in the Maintenance Department after over 20 years of service.
On June 27, 1953, Richard married Shirley Ann Goad in Joplin. She preceded him in death on December 17, 2010.
Survivors include a son, Rick Guthrie of Joplin; grandchildren, Daniel Guthrie and wife, Julie of Joplin, Dustin Guthrie and wife, Cheryl of Joplin, Mary Peters and husband, Scott of Carl Junction; great grandchildren, Austyn Guthrie, Misty, Dakota, Cheyenne and Brandon Wallace, Emma Peters and Taila Guinn.
Other than his parents, Richard was preceded in death by all of his siblings.
Graveside services are planned for Friday, December 30 at 1:00 p.m. at Osborne Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
