Betty J. Robinson-Gray “Miss RG”, transitioned to be with the Lord on Tuesday December 27, 2016, at Spring River Christian Center, following an illness.
Betty was born on December 15, 1939 in Ringgold, La., the daughter of late Jerry and Katherine (Mingo) Love. She has been a resident of Joplin for most of her adult life. She graduated from MSSC in 1973 with a BS in Secondary Education. She was an educator for thirty-nine years at Joplin High School. She taught Psychology, World History, Advanced World History, Parenting, and Understanding Law. She assisted with the Respect Club and the Constitution Team at the High School. During her teaching career, she was the recipient of two Golden Apple Awards. She was a longtime member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Betty was dedicated to physical fitness, worked out twice a day, and encouraged others to do the same. She also ran Ewert Pool for many years.
To say that Betty J. Robinson-Gray was an inspiration is an understatement. She wanted everyone to always make themselves better, stronger, and happier. She believed that knowledge was the key to all open doors. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Betty married Charles Douglas Robinson, and he preceded her in death. She married William Ottis Gray and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, Keith Robinson; two brothers, Raymond Love and James Love; and two sisters, Ruth Love and Vera Love.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Katherine “KK” Robinson, Joplin; one son, Charles Douglas Robinson, Jr., Bentonville, Ar.; three brothers, J.D. Love, Jerry Love and wife Margret, and Robert Love, all of Joplin; three grandsons, Justin Robinson, Joplin, Jeremy Robinson, Joplin, and Dylan Robinson, Dallas, Tx.; one great-grandchild, Kendrick Robinson; and many nieces and nephews.
A Homegoing Celebration will be at 10 :00 a.m. Saturday at Villa Heights Christian Church. Reverend Samuel Nero will officiate. Burial will be in Parkway Cemetery.
The visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be given to the Joplin Schools Foundation for a Scholarship in care of the mortuary.

As one of her former students, I can tell you that this special lady will not be forgotten. She was that teacher who truly made a difference in her students lives. RIP Ms. RG. I know you're with God now, telling your stories to the angels.
