Joetta “Jo” Jeffcott (Short) Krusekopf, daughter of the late Joseph Alexander Jeffcott and Mamie Evelyn (Kelly) Jeffcott was born March 12, 1928 at their home on 2323 Picher Avenue in Joplin, Missouri.
As a young child, Jo attended school at Greenwood Community School (Grades 1-3), Joplin Stapleton School (Grades 3-5), Ada, OK (Grade 6) and Joplin Senior High School (Class of 1946). She then attended Joplin Junior College for 2 years.
Jo married the late Thomas Victor Short in 1949 and had two sons, Thomas Joseph Short (Fremont Hills, MO) and Stephen Jack Short (Jasper, MO). Jo had a long career as an administrative assistant at Empire Electric Co and Rocketdyne in Neosho, MO. She later earned her Real Estate license and was owner of Jasper Real Estate Agency.
On July 27, 1963, Jo married the late Frederick Franklin Krusekopf and resided in Jasper, Mo for their married life. Jo was fortunate to have a very loving relationship with her brother Truman Clark Jeffcott who proceeded her in death. Jo has been a lifetime member of the Jasper United Methodist Church and the Jasper American Legion Auxiliary (Unit 612), taught for Girls State for many years, and enjoyed Bridge Club every Monday afternoon for several years. She was also an avid member of the Red Hatters. In 2015, she was honored to be the Jasper Days Parade Grand Marshal. Many will miss the open-door house, unconditional love and complete acceptance that she gave to each other and everyone who became a part of her life. She truly lived and reflected Christ’s love and peace to all. She peacefully began her eternal journey on December 16, 2016 at 11:54 PM at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO.
Jo is survived by her two sons Thomas and Stephen, step-daughter Jann Peck (Greenville, NC), 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 nieces, 1 nephew and their families.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the Jasper United Methodist Church at 1:00 P.M.. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Weng Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at 3:00 P.M. at Osborne Memorial Cemetery, Joplin, MO.
