Patsy Chew

Patsy J. Chew, age 80, Joplin, formerly of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021 at Westgate of Joplin.

Patsy was born August 15, 1941 in Dallas, Texas, daughter of the late William L. Pelot and Ruth (Carlton) Pelot. She grew up in Joplin and graduated from Joplin High School before going to Joplin Junior College. She later attended Kansas State College in Pittsburg, Kansas (Pittsburg State University). She worked for years first with Mays Drug, and then in the pharmacy business as a clerk for Oak Hill Hospital. She was later active taking care of Red Rock Resort in Grove, Oklahoma that she and her husband owned for many years before retiring and moving back to Joplin.








She was of the Methodist Faith, and enjoyed playing Bridge, golfing, bowling, and also enjoyed fishing on Grand Lake. She was devoted to her family, especially her husband of 56 years, Jerry.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the nurses and staff at Westgate and Communities of Wildwood Ranch for all their support and care of Patsy over the past years.

In addition to her parents, Patsy was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Chew on August 1, 2017.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Chew; son, Steven Chew and wife April of Joplin; grandchildren, Logan Reynolds of Joplin, Autumn Reynolds, Abagail Reynolds, and Taryn Reynolds all of Kansas City, Missouri, and Keith Chew of Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Graveside services will be Friday, October 8, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Shane Munn officiating.
