(From Parker Mortuary)Carolyn Sue Painter, age 80, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023 at Mercy Hospital. Carolyn was born September 4, 1942 in Columbia, Missouri to the late Henry C. Barnes and Hallie M. Edward Barnes. They moved a short time later to Joplin where she has resided ever since. She graduated from Joplin Senior High with the class of 1960.
Carolyn retired from Midcon Cables after 30 plus years of service to the company. She was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church, Joplin.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Clarence, whom she married on August 18, 1976 in Miami, Oklahoma.
Additional survivors include a son, Jeffrey Martin and wife, Melissa of Joplin; daughter, Christy Martin-DeGraff and husband, Jim of Joplin. Step sons, Todd Painter of Troy, Ohio and Troy Painter and wife, Tracy of Webb City, Missouri; step daughter, Christie Westoff and husband, Eric of Joplin; brothers, Gene Barnes and wife Darlene, Warren Barnes, both of Joplin. Carolyn had three granddaughters, six step-grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
A memorial service will be planned for a later date at Faith Baptist Church.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
